POSITION SUMMARY:



The AS400 Operations/Programming Supervisor will be responsible for managing all aspects of a multi-national and multi-currency AS/400 environment. Prepares system schedules, coordinates special software testing and insures data retention is completed according to company policy. Identify and analyze available options and assist in decision-making regarding various software packages to meet business needs. Responsible for project management to insure projects are implemented on time and on budget. The AS400 Operations/Programming Supervisor will also be required to direct and develop the AS/400 programming and support staff.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



• Software configuration, support, installs, upgrades, patches, and troubleshooting

• Evaluate and recommend software packages that will add value to the organization

• Developing custom code using various languages to support legacy systems

• Coordinating with other departments to clarify critical success factors

• Coordinating with other departments to clarify business processes

• Coordinating software development to provide information to track critical success factors

• Coordinating software development to enhance business process efficiency

• Coordinating software development and documentation standards



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:



1. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

2. Minimum 5 plus years work experience on a AS/400 platform

3. Certifications a plus

4. Programming languages to include but not limited to CL, Cobol and RPG.

5. Databases such as DB2, SQL, Oracle and Sybase

6. Reporting tools such as SEQUEL, Cognos, Crystal Reports and SQL Reporting Services

7. Thorough understanding of systems batch processing concepts and tools

8. Thorough understanding of systems operations best-practices

9. Proven ability to meet deadlines and set up work projects under pressure

10. Strong people and operational management skills.
