Youth Development Specialist/Activity Leader

SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the Youth Programs Manager in the development and implementation of an educational and recreational before- and after-school program for elementary and/or middle-school youth with a heavy emphasis on academic enrichment, prevention, youth leadership development, social skill-building, and health promotion that is consistent with the mission of CCS. The YDS is responsible for assessing program youth to determine their activity preferences and special needs.



QUALIFICATIONS:

• College level coursework in child development, community health education, recreation, or other related course and/or one year experience in age appropriate youth programming preferred.

• Experience and skill in working as part of a team with school-aged youth, their parents, and school personnel preferred.

• Leadership skills, collaborative experience, and bilingual (Spanish/English) ability preferred.

• Excellent organizational skills, primary prevention experience and/or training, and experience working in public school system.

• Pre-employment requirements: Department of Justice Live Scan clearance, a TB test showing negative for infectious tuberculosis, and for PBTLC a negative drug-screen test. Post hire, First Aid and CPR certification are required.
