Jobs for the Environment.
Right now, we’re working to bring more clean and renewable energy to the United States. America clearly has a dangerous addiction to dirty sources of energy like coal, oil, and nuclear power. This addiction is causing us to ruin pristine natural places, and threaten the planet with Global Warming. The good news is, the alternative energy solutions are out there, and the US is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world; we can address our energy needs without destroying the planet for our future generations. Investing in clean, renewable, and practical energy sources like wind and solar power would protect our environment, reduce our air pollution, and provide a more home-grown and stable economy. Especially now, with our energy prices at an all-time high and the war raging, we need to act right away. If we can build enough grassroots support, we can convince our leaders to pass a bill through congress to get at least 20% of our electricity from clean sources by 2020. This would be the biggest step our country has ever taken.
We know we can make a difference.
Just last year, Environment California built the public support it took to pass the Million Solar Roofs Initiative. It’s the largest solar program in US history, and it will make California a world-leader in solar power.
We need your help.
Big polluters have already
spent millions to convince our leaders to ignore the environment. We don't
have that kind of money to buy politicians in California, so instead,
we are hiring staff to take the message to the people, in communities
across the state, and build the grassroots people power it takes to make
our politicians listen to us.
