Small San Diego (Carlsbad) based Medical/Consumer advertising and marketing agency looking to hire a Senior Medical Writer/Medical Writer to work on publication planning, medical content and editorial services on all client accounts. Agency’s primary client base is medical, but consumer advertising opportunities will also be targeted. This is a great opportunity for a talented, self-motivated and dedicated writer to join a small agency built on hard work, accountability and desire to get the job done the right way for their clients. Freelance and/or freelance-to-hire opportunity preferred, but will hire the “right” person full time.
Education/Experience:
Bachelors Degree in related field required.
Masters Degree in related field a HUGE PLUS.
3+ years related experience a HUGE PLUS.

Senior Medical Writer/Medical Writer
Responsibilities Include
Play a key role in all content development across all medical education initiatives.
Pull key messages through content in varies mediums.
Plan, create, and execute publication plans for multiple clients.
Proficiently write manuscripts, case reports, posters, letters to the editor, symposium presentations, slide kits, advisory board meeting materials, thought leader development materials, conference highlights, communiqués, proposals, Ad Board activities and booklets, and abstracts.
Write physician authored manuscripts and supplements for publication in scientific and medical journals from clinical trial data and NDAs.
Write slide decks for presentation at speaker trainings, advisory board meetings, and other pharmaceutical industry sponsored events.
Write content for round table discussions.
Write abstracts and poster content to be presented at conferences and congresses.
Manage freelance writers and editors on contract basis.
Contract and managed contributing editors for the journals when necessary.
Map publication cycles ensuring that the advertising-to-feature ratio is consistent.
Revise articles based on peer-reviewer comments and suggestions.
Interact with Editorial Board and industry professionals to ensure most up-to-date clinical information and techniques were covered by the Editorial Calendar.
Review blue lines and final signature for publication of printer proofs.
Interacted with Art Director to ensure all art for articles is acceptable for publication and placed in the correct location in the article.
Attend industry conferences and symposiums to observe poster and abstract presentations, as well as write recaps of each meeting for the next issue as needed.
Oversee day-to-day development of editorial content.
Establish and manage all editorial timelines, budgets, and deadlines.
Ensure that all editorial standards are executed by both writers and editors.
Fact checked references with cited information used in text.
Perform final edit on all editorial content.
Managed all referenced materials.
Continuously enhance existing processes and overall development.
Require/Desired Skills:
Well versed in AMA and APA styles. All Microsoft Office applications, PowerPoint, EndNote, Reference Manager, Quark, Microsoft Publisher, OVID, Journal Selector, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, FTP, Eudora, Internet Explorer, Ultimate Data System, Contour.
